Rosemary is a culinary and healing herb. This woody perennial is native to the Mediterranean region, where it’s been used as food and medicine for centuries.
BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION
Much like oregano, peppermint, and cinnamon, rosemary is frequently found in essential oil form. Essential oils are highly concentrated and distilled extracts of volatile plant compounds.
CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS
The major constituents (> 5%) in the essential oil were found to be 1,8-cineol (38.5%), camphor (17.1%), α-pinene (12.3%), limonene (6.23%), camphene (6.00%), and linalool (5.70%), respectively. In addition, the tested essential oil also contained considerable amounts of various minor constituents [10]
HOW TO USE
1. Rosemary to promote Hair growth
a. Take a few drops of Rosemary oil.
b. Mix it with a few drops of coconut oil.
c. Apply it evenly on the scalp once or twice a week to help promote hair loss.
2. Rosemary to manage the symptoms of Arthritis:
a. Take a few drops of Rosemary oil (or as per your requirement).
b. Add 1 drop of Olive oil or mustard oil to it.
c. Massage the inflamed painful areas with this mixture before sleeping for about 10-15 minutes to get relief from the symptoms of Arthritis such as inflammation.
3. Rosemary for Mental tiredness:
a. Use Rosemary oil in a diffuser to spread its aroma in the room to ease inhalation. It can also be inhaled directly through the bottle to improve memory, get relief from mental tiredness
or to manage any nervous disorder.
4. Rosemary to manage depression:
a. Put a few drops of Rosemary oil on a cotton cloth or tissue.
b. Bring it near your face or nose to inhale.
c. Inhale a few times to help elevate your mood.
5. Use with Other Oils:
Mix it with your regular oils like coconut oil, almond oil, amla oil, etc. Just add 4-5 drops of rosemary oil into the carrier oil, massage it into your scalp, keep it for at least an hour and then rinse it off with a mild shampoo.
PRECAUTIONS
Avoid rosemary in pregnancy in larger than food amounts. If lactating, avoid rosemary in medicinal amounts. Avoid using Rosemary in cases of Aspirin allergy. Rosemary contains a salicylate that may cause a reaction in people who are allergic to aspirin. Avoid where Lithium is being taken. Avoid in bleeding disorders: Rosemary might increase the risk of bleeding and bruising in people with bleeding
disorders. Use cautiously or avoid entirely in epilepsy and other seizure disorders: Rosemary might make attenuate the effect of antispasmodic medication.
